IBC 2026: What’s Poppin' in Amsterdam
XGN Unleashes Full-Stack Firepower: XGN is turning heads at Booth 1.F37 with end-to-end 5G Broadcast solutions. They are demonstrating the XGN BEACON - the 5G Broadcast core for dynamic orchestration alongside the launch of XGN Charlie—a dedicated, high-performance 5G Broadcast receiver purpose-built for total reliability at the edge. With native support for 3GPP Bands 112 & 113, Charlie pulls streams directly from high-power broadcast towers, completely bypassing mobile network traffic and internet congestion.
Media over QUIC (MoQ) Meets 5G Broadcast: Nakolos, TREDESS, and Bitstem (Booth 5.A63) unveiled a world-first hybrid demo. Mass audiences get fed via 5G Broadcast, but if a viewer steps out of range, the system dynamically hands off to an ultra-low-latency MoQ unicast stream on demand. Sub-second latency, zero buffering, zero wasted bandwidth.
3GPP Release 19 Hits the Floor: Live demonstrations are showing off rich Emergency Warning Systems (EWS). Think live evacuation video, real-time maps, and updates pushed straight to millions of devices simultaneously—even when commercial cellular networks are completely jammed.

Major Deployment Footprint: TDF’s National Rollout in France
Beyond the show floor, real-world deployment on high-power towers is scaling fast. French infrastructure giant TDF is moving from initial pilots to a full-scale operational rollout across France
High-power transmission sites are active in Paris (including the Eiffel Tower and Meudon), Mantes-la-Jolie, Le Havre-Harfleur, Bourges-Neuvy, and Reims-Hautvillers. The deployment covers linear TV, radio, and public warning services transmitted straight to compatible mobile devices without a SIM card, Wi-Fi login, or cellular data plan. TDF is also deploying coverage across the Rennes metro system to demonstrate continuous, low-latency broadcast reception in dense, underground mobile environments.

Big Blue Marble partners with TDF on French 5G Broadcast rollout
Big Blue Marble is supporting French infrastructure and network operator TDF as a technology partner in the next phase of its large-scale 5G Broadcast deployment in France. TDF has already activated an initial 5G Broadcast coverage area across Paris, Reims, Bourges and Le Havre, enabling television, radio and public warning services to be delivered directly to compatible mobile devices without a SIM card, Wi-Fi connection or mobile data subscription.
Castanet and Rypplzz Deploy 5G Broadcast Geospatial Positioning for Physical AI
Spatial intelligence leader Rypplzz has partnered with Castanet Corporation, to elevate nationwide terrestrial over-the-air geospatial positioning. Through the new partnership, Castanet will embed Rypplzz technology into its hybrid ATSC 3.0 + 5G Broadcast Internet network, unlocking exact three-axis (X, Y, Z) Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) performance and ultra-reliable nanosecond timing for physical AI networks across the country.
AI improves reliability of 5G multicast broadcasting
Explaining the rationale for the study, the research team at Waseda – led by Jiro Katto and PhD candidate Kasidis Arunruangsirilert – say they have developed a lightweight AI model that predicts wireless conditions before they deteriorate, adjusting transmission settings accordingly.
IBC: Big Blue Marble Showcasing Next-Generation 5G Broadcast
the company says it's demonstrating what it believes is the world’s first seamless switching between 5G Broadcast and Media over QUIC, or MoQ, with ultra-low glass-to-glass latency.
