Expanding Horizons: ORS Demonstration and Malaysia’s Exploration of 5G Broadcast
October 4, 2025
Momentum for 5G Broadcast continues to accelerate with significant demonstrations in Europe and new exploration in Asia. Together, these developments showcase both the maturity of the technology and the growing interest in its global adoption.
At IBC, ORS demonstrated how 5G Broadcast and DVB-T can work together in harmony, proving that next-generation broadcasting doesn’t have to replace existing systems but can complement and extend them. This hybrid approach highlights a practical pathway for broadcasters, ensuring continuity while unlocking new capabilities such as efficient data delivery and enhanced coverage for mobile devices.
On the other side of the globe, Malaysia has announced its exploration of 5G Broadcast technology to modernize and expand its broadcasting capabilities. By evaluating how 5G Broadcast can enhance content delivery, improve spectrum efficiency, and open new service opportunities, Malaysia joins a growing list of countries recognizing the transformative potential of one-to-many communications.
These advances come alongside new players entering the ecosystem. At IBC, Big Blue Marble made its debut, showcasing its focus on streaming and 5G Broadcast integration. The addition of fresh innovators signals the increasing momentum in building a diverse, collaborative ecosystem around 5G Broadcast.
Each of these developments points to the same conclusion: 5G Broadcast is not just a technology for tomorrow—it’s a solution ready to redefine connectivity today.
